The influence of character education on the world of education

In the current era of globalization, the existence of a nation is largely determined by its nature. It takes a strong national character so that the nation can compete in the midst of the swift currents of globalization. The character of a nation determines the progress of a nation. A strong national character can be derived from a high social character. Good character qualities can foster a strong desire to improve the quality of the nation. Formation of a quality society can be done through education. Education is the acquisition of knowledge, skills and habits by a group of people, which are transmitted from one generation to the next through teaching, training or research. This training aims to produce quality human resources. However, the purpose of education in its application does not only demand the development of an intelligent society. Education that is urgently needed at this time is education that can combine character building with education that can optimize the development of all child dimensions (cognitive, physical, social-emotional, creative and spiritual). Therefore, in education, it is necessary to teach the formation of community character so that responsible and obedient human beings are formed. The purpose of character education according to Mulyasa (2012, p.9) is to encourage students to be able to independently improve and use knowledge, studying and internalizing and personalizing the values of character and noble character so that they are manifested in daily behavior.

Character building should be done first in the family environment, because the family is the most important source and the first education is for the parents, various aspects such as cognitive (knowledge), affective (feeling), and also the action given by parents to children are very influential. One of the obvious influences is the good and bad of a child. It can be seen that character education in the world of education is very influential in shaping children's character. The process of forming the character of children in the family can be done by parents in various ways, including habituation, counseling and punishment according to Langeveld (1971), and encouragement to children. The success of the process of character formation in the family environment depends on the harmony between parents, children, the methods used and the environment that supports this process of formation.

The problem now is that the family, which should be the first education for children, instead does not provide full education to it. It can be proven that when children should be given educational lessons on something they may not know about, parents prefer to keep themselves busy with their work, there is no embedded direct education given by their parents. When the child is wrong then the child is given a punishment, the sad thing is without counseling and guidance which makes the child depressed and feels lonely and later the child will rebel into a bad person, often.

Children must be given good education by both parents. This problem doesn't matter what makes the child like that, if the parents. Fulfilling obligations to children

Let's together advance education in this country with various sciences based on strong character
